Guild Charter

Embracers of Light
Guild Charter

===================

The overall goal that we (meaning leaders and members) have is that all members will have a more enjoyable and more fulfilling online gaming experience by being a part of the Embracers of Light. Most people join guilds because they are looking for assistance and friendship, something we all feel strongly about. We are, of course, not perfect but we are willing to work on it. With the above in mind, it seemed prudent that we, as leaders, set out some guidelines. Most are common sense, but just as your iron tells you not to iron the clothes you are currently wearing, so it is better to establish some basic boundaries. So, here are the short rules (see below for expanded details) we expect Embracers of Light’s members to abide by:

1.  Respect EVERYONE!
2.  Avoid the use of offensive language/comments.
3.  Operate on a Need Before Greed basis.
4.  Participate
5.  Have fun – it is a game!

The expanded edition:

1.  We could probably leave the rules at just this one as it pretty much sums up everything else. Respect your guildmates by assisting them whenever possible, grouping, conversing, answering questions, not asking for freebies from crafters, etc. If you agree to mentor someone, that does not mean off-tanking for them. It means that you are going to get into the group, mentor down, and fight side by side with your guildmate(s). Also respect others in the game by using proper netiquette (avoiding caps, spamming, and such), being attentive in raids and groups, avoiding node or kill stealing, etc. There is no doubt that at some point someone outside our guild will do one of these things to you, however, we ask that you refrain from retaliating as well.

2.  We are a family friendly guild and as such we ask that all members refrain from offensive language or comments. If you receive a tell regarding language or comments you have made or are making, please respect the senders wishes.

3.  Loot is always Need Before Greed (NBG) in guild groupings. On raids, loot is set to raid leader only and will be distributed first as NBG and then by highest number on a random 1-100.  There will be times when a "Seeded" roll will take place and whomever is close to that number will win the loot.  If you do not understand the "loot" policy, please ask.

4.  Participation is key.  The leaders don't have all the answers.  If you have a question then ask away, if you have a suggestion then put it forward.  This guild is your guild and is as strong or as weak as you make it.

5.  Well, what are you sitting around for? Get out there and play a bit. Talk to a guildy you haven’t talked to before. Go practice cliff diving in Antonica. Just have fun. This guild plays the game as a game. It is our way to relax and have fun and enjoy each others company and that’s about it.

- Leaders will discuss candidates and their commitment to the guild and the advancement of the guild.  This will include things like forum participation, grouping/raiding conduct, willingness to assist others, knowledge of the game, etc.  The requirements will be but is not limited to the following:
i.  Have EoL as their PRIMARY and ONLY guild in EQII.
ii.  Have EQII as their PRIMARY game (i.e. you can play vanguard but if you begin playing vanguard all the time with a few visits to eqII you will likely be asked to voluntarily step down).

-- Demotion Rules --
1.  If you are inactive for more than 90 days you will be moved into the "Embracer's Esquire" rank (and tagged in case you return).
2.  If you are inactive for more than 365 days on all of your characters you will be removed from the guild.

Leaving / Returning to EoL:

The leaders recognize that there are many reasons why people switch guilds.  Although we would love for everyone to be happy and content here sometimes people need something a little different.  To that end our policy is this:

- If you leave of your own free will and then decide to return you will be welcomed back with open arms ... once! (and you will restart at recruit status).  If you leave a second time then we will wish you bon voyage but you will not be welcome to return as we can do without the drama it creates.

- If a leader/officer has to kick you out ... we will not wish you bon voyage and you will not be welcome to return.  As well, the information regarding your departure will be passed to our alliance and other guilds as we see fit.
